LIVERPOOL, U.K. - Feb. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- DT Engineering NW Ltd (DTE) is one of three finalists for “Engineering Company of the Year” in the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2015. It is one of nine prestigious awards being presented in celebration of the breadth and diversity of the Maritime, Logistics and Energy sectors in the Liverpool City Region and wider North West.

“We are immensely proud of our achievements over the last twelve month period and the award shortlisting is a welcome return on serious hard work and dedication from an ever expanding team. Hopefully we can go on to win the accolade but to be shortlisted finalists is a massive achievement in itself”, says Tom Coyle, MD of DTE.

Gerry Weston, electrical operations director of DTE, said “We are extremely honoured to have been nominated for “Engineering Company of the Year”, which focusses on achievements of the business over the financial year, overall performance and the creation and safeguarding of jobs. These awards give us an opportunity to shout out about our recent achievements, which, all in all, have been great this last year. The plans of the business going forward will see further growth and job creation which would be greatly corroborated with the kudos of winning a prestigious award such as this”.

Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2015

2015 marks the first year for the awards - run by Mersey Maritime which represents a maritime cluster of over 1,700 local businesses, employing 28,000 people and having a turnover of £2.6 billion per annum.

Winners will be announced at the awards dinner on 12th March at Wallasey Town Hall.  Set to become a highlight in the industry’s annual events calendar, the awards dinner will be a black tie gala dinner with a ministerial presence and is already fully sold out.

“Engineering Company of the Year” – for which DTE is nominated along with two other companies -  is one of 9 awards being judged; these include “Business of the Year”, “Best Newcomer” , “SME Business of the Year” and “Ambassador of the Year”.

Judging the winners

Mersey Maritime appointed a judging panel made up of key leaders of maritime and related sector businesses. The panel met at the end of January to discuss the individual merits of the applications received and were then asked – individually -   to score all applications on the basis of a specific set of criteria, which varied for each award category. Judges’ scores were then aggregated to produce a top three in the case of Engineering Company of the Year (in some other cases, a top 4).

Judges were then given the opportunity to meet informally and chat with their finalists at a drinks reception in mid-February and must now consider who their winners should be. All nominees await the outcome with eager anticipation.
