Taste For the Heart at Zodo’s- Bowling & Beyond

GOLETA, Calif. - Feb. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- February is National Heart Month and Zodo’s- Bowling & Beyond is showing their support by hosting a charity wine tasting event. Twenty-Five percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association. As the national leader in heart disease research, The American Heart Association has funded more than $3.5 billion in innovative research, with hopes of even more funding in the future.

The event will take place on February 20^th, from 6-8 p.m. inside Z’s Tap House and Grill. Zodo’s has themed the wine event around the color red to celebrate the heart benefits of red wine. Scientists believe the antioxidants, called flavonoids, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Researchers at the University of California, at Davis tested a variety of wines to determine which types have the highest concentrations of flavonoids. Their results concluded that the best wines for your heart based on flavonoid concentration is Cabernet Sauvignon, followed closely by Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir. Guests are invited to join in the theme by wearing red to the event.

For $20 a person guests will be served 6 different types of wines and a wide variety of appetizers. There will be wines from Summerland, Charles Krug, 10 span, Carr, Qupe, Franciscan Estate, and Don and Sons. Hors d’oeuvres such as cheese platters, grapes, and light snacks will be paired with each wine. In addition, customers will be able to vote on which wine they like the best. The winning wine will then be put on wine tap at Z’s - Tap House.  Tickets can be purchased at the bowling desk inside Zodo’s – Bowling & Beyond and in advance on NightOut.com.
