Follow on Google News | Score One Sports brings NFL Flag Football to Central OhioBy: Score One Sports Boys and girls will compete with other kids their own age throughout the seven week season that starts April 18th. Practices and games are held on the same day and teams are coached by volunteer parents who are trained through the NFL Flag program. According to NFL Flag, over 210,000 kids participated in organized leagues during 2012. The surge in popularity across the country can be contributed to the rise in safety awareness; flag football is completely non-contact which allows boys and girls to learn the fundamentals of the game without the fear of being tackled. “Each child has the opportunity to be an impact player in every game. Pulling flags replaces tackling but the same concentration used in tackle football is needed to make plays and score touchdowns. The kids have a blast and realize such a sense of accomplishment, all while wearing an official NFL Jersey”, said Pete Johnson, former Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Bengal’s player, board member at Score One Sports. The deadline to register is March 15th and space is limited. Age divisions in each venue will be limited to a maximum of 80 participants. For $109 players receive a reversible NFL jersey, flag belt and mouth guard. For a limited time parents can save $10 with promo code SCORE10 by visiting www.scoreonesports.com.
