Mother and Sons Publish Children’s Books

Feb. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- RINGGOLD, Ga. – Omie Mills and her sons, Charles and Chris, each recently published a children’s book for kids ages four to eight. The family resides in Huntsville, Arkansas, but also spends time in Palmetto, Florida, where they were born and raised.

Dr. Mills is a board certified pathologist and dermopathologist, a physician who specializes in examining tissue to diagnose skin diseases. In addition to conducting research, obtaining grants, and publishing articles in medical journals, she enjoys teaching others about lifestyle medicine and helping them improve their health. The title of Dr. Mills’ book is God’s Four Great Physicians. The book seeks to teach children about the importance of pure air, water, proper exercise, and a clear conscience.

“I want to equip children with the tools to develop and maintain health, giving them the ultimate advantage for spiritual, mental, and physical success,” Dr. Mills said.

Her oldest son, Charles, is fifteen years old and recently finished the ninth grade. He is homeschooled and enjoys woodworking, sailing, swimming, playing guitar and piano, and working on cars. The title of his book is My Life as an Oak Tree. The story is about two acorns that learn to be content in each stage of their life, from an acorn, to an oak tree, to a house.

Charles originally wrote the story as part of a personification writing assignment for seventh grade. It was so well received by friends and family that they encouraged him to publish the story. “I hope that children who read this story will understand that, no matter what changes in their life, they are a part of God’s plan,” Charles said.

Her younger son, Chris, is thirteen years old and recently finished the seventh grade. He is homeschooled and enjoys playing with his dogs, skateboarding, biking, snowboarding, and writing stories. The title of his book is The Shrew That Wasn’t.

The book introduces children to Grandpa Hutch and Andrea White of Tender Heart Wildlife Rehabilitation and teaches them about the vole that Grandpa found in his backyard. “I wrote this book to teach children about how we can help injured animals, and to help Andrea raise money so that she can continue her wildlife rescue efforts,” Chris said.

The books are published by TEACH Services, and are available through the publisher’s Web site (www.TEACHServices.com), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or local bookstores by request.
