Ford Hybrid Cars: What You Need To Know

Hybrids are more popular and affordable than ever before. Check out the new models of Ford Hybrids that are now available.

SALEM, Ore. - Feb. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- When hybrid vehicles first came out almost 10 years ago, they were often very expensive and in limited supply, which led to even higher prices. Another problem was that car buyers were limited in their choices of vehicles. Fortunately, Ford has changed that by offering customers five Ford Hybrid models in which to choose from, and at a more affordable price than before. The car company has also been ranked as number one of the top 2014 50 Best Global Green Brands as ranked by Interbrand.

Ford Escape

Ford’s first venture into hybrids was the 2005 Escape Hybrid that first made its debut in 2004. This popular and very reliable SUV offered the best gas mileage in comparison to other vehicles in its class. Because of its reliability and great gas mileage, the Escape is often found being used in taxi fleets in major cities. Some of these vehicles have been retired from service at over 300,000 with very few mechanical failures to report. The last model year available for this vehicle is 2012. However, because of its reliability, this Ford Hybrid is frequently sought after as a used vehicle.

Ford Fusion

The stylish 2015 Ford Fusion is available in two hybrid models, the Fusion SE and its latest model, coming early 2015, the plug-in Fusion SE Energi. Both models offers drivers flexibility with its electric motor and 2.0L I-4 Atkinson gasoline-powered engine.

The SE model offers an EPA estimated 44/41 miles per gallon or up to 85 miles when running in its all-electric mode. Working together, its electric motor and gas engine provide up to 188 horsepower of energy. The SE Energi model will offer a combined EPA estimated MPGe of 95/81 and up to 19 miles when running in electric-only model. This model utilizes the Regenerative Braking System to re-energize its battery during use.

Started suggested MSRP for the SE is $26,890 and #34,800 for the SE Energi. U.S. News & World Report has ranked these models #3 and #13 respectively on its list of top hybrids for the year.

Ford C-Max

The latest entry to Ford’s lineup of hybrid vehicles is the C-Max. Available in two models, the SEL and the plug-in Energi. Underneath its sporty exterior, the C-Max’s drivetrain is equivalent to the one found in the Fusion. The C-Max provides more passenger room than many other hybrid vehicles.

The SEL model offers an EPA estimated 42/37 miles per gallon and has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report at #8 in its list of top hybrid vehicles. With its gas engine and electric motor, the C-Max gives the driver plenty of power when they need it for passing. MSRP for the C-Max SEL begins at $27,170.

For a more upscale driving experience, the C-Max Energi offers a more sophisticated cabin design. It offers an EPA estimated 40/36 miles per gallon and the equivalent of 88 mpg when running only on electric power. This wagon has been ranked #17 in U.S. News & World Report’s list of hybrid vehicles. The MSRP for the C-Max Energi begins at $31,770.
