MindStream Academy Announces Partnership to Help Mexico Combat Their Childhood Obesity Epidemic

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Feb. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- HILTON HEAD ISLAND & MEXICO CITY—MindStream Academy, a therapeutic boarding school in South Carolina, has partnered with Mexican physicians, lead by Dr. Nejama Sadovich, to identify and reach overweight teens in Mexico City and surrounding areas whose situations warrant an intervention strategy.

Mexico has recently overtaken the U.S. when it comes to obesity rates, and the epidemic is especially affecting the adolescent population.  Now, thanks to a new partnership with Mexican physician, Dr. Nejama Sadovich, MindStream Academy can reach even more adolescents who struggle with obesity.  Says Dr. Sadovich, “Obesity is a serious problem in our country, and the intervention should be aggressive.  Treating the young ones is caring about the future of our nation.  It’s great to have MindStream Academy on our side.”

MindStream Academy, founded in 2010, is the only school in the world focusing on a holistic approach to whole-person wellness.  Students take traditional academic classes in addition to learning valuable life skills including cooking, nutrition, gardening, fitness and more.   This academic setting that stresses life skills and working in combination with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Equine-Assisted Therapy help teens lose a significant amount of weight.  Data proves that once teens have been given the tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle, they are adept at continuing and sustain their weight loss upon graduation from the program.
