Japanese Standards Association Announces New Textile Care Labeling Standard

The Japanese Standards Association announced the new care labeling standard in October 2014. JIS L0001-2014 was developed based on the ISO 3758-2012 care label system and is regulated by the Household Products Quality Labeling Law.

HONG KONG, China - Feb. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- The new care label system (JIS L0001-2014) is still under revision and approval by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).  Currently the exiting JIS L0217-1995 is in use as the mandatory standard for labeling.

Japanese JIS Textile Care Label System Update

In order to harmonize with the ISO international care labeling system, the new care label system (JIS L0001-2014) (http://www.webstore.jsa.or.jp/webstore/Com/FlowControl.jsp?lang=en&bunsyoId=JIS+L+0001%3A2014&dantaiCd=JIS&status=1&pageNo=0) adds and amends the care label code, particularly for the drying methods. The previous care label system JIS L0217:1995, only included line dry and flat dry symbols, while; the new care label system JIS L0001-2014 adds tumble dry as a drying option.
