ATLANTA - Feb. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Restaurateur Nicola, the restaurant’s namesake, will demonstrate a traditional folk dance called Dabke. Dabke is a Levantine circle or line dance performed at weddings and other celebrations. Destination Lebanon attendees will be encouraged to participate! The event will also include a presentation about Lebanese culture and the impact of Syrian conflict.

While a majority of the population gets its news through various media channels, it is a great opportunity and honor to have someone share the insights of world affairs in an intimate setting. Mr Hrair Balian is the director of the Conflict Resolution Program at The Carter Center. He oversees the program's efforts to monitor conflicts around the world and coordinates the Center's cross-program efforts in the Middle East. Mr. Balian is also an adjunct professor at the Emory University Law School, where he teachers an advanced international negotiations seminar. He is fluent in English, French, and Armenian, with a basic knowledge of Arabic. Mr. Balian was born and raised in Lebanon and moved to the United States for his university studies. During his keynote speech, Mr. Balian will share with guests’ information about the culture of Lebanon as well as the impact of the Syrian war.

Destination Lebanon will be held on February 26th at 7:00pm at Nicola’s Restaurant (1602 LaVista Road Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30329). The event will be an opportunity for Atlanta residents to spend a social evening learning, eating, drinking, and having fun.

Tickets for the event are $35 for general members/$45 for non-members and include dinner, tax, tips, speaker and entertainment. Tickets may be purchased through Eventbrite (destinationlebanon.eventbrite.com (../Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail%20...)). A portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization Go Eat Give, which strives to raise awareness of different cultures throughout the world.
