Augmented Reality Improves Operational Picking in Warehouses and Distribution Centers

Feb. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Last year, DC Velocity published a feature article, “Thoughts on Augmented Reality in the Warehouse,” by Kevin Gue. He shared his reaction to a video of how glasses are being used in an order fulfillment center. The prospect of using these in warehousing was mentioned by a participant at one of the Material Handling & Logistics Roadmap workshops. Now there are numerous examples of real implementations directing the worker to proceed to location such and such and "pick three" items, after the location is illuminated by a green rectangle cast before the worker's eyes. As the positions and activities of workers become more and more transparent to "the system," human error and inefficient behavior, such as picker routing, will become increasingly rare.
