LOS ANGELES - Feb. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- It is rare that comedian Scott Aukerman, host of the popular podcast and IFC television series Comedy Bang! Bang!, sits down to discuss himself in a sincere, long form style interview. But he gladly joined respected interviewer and journalist Alison Rosen on the Monday (February 16th) episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend to talk in-depth about the origin and journey of his impressive career in show business.

“My mom tells a story of when I was in a church play. I was 6 years old and I said a line that got a laugh and she saw my eyes light up, and she was like, ‘Oh boy…’”(0:22:40)

Scott’s creative talents are wide-ranging and multi-faceted. He attended a prestigious performing arts high school, where he became enthralled with dramatic and musical theater. He spent many years building a career towards creative projects that were drama-centric. In his heart, though, he felt like comedy was his calling.

“I would have a ball [writing comedy], but I thought writing dramatic material was the only way that I would have a career in writing (0:39:47)… Then I wrote a pilot for an hour long drama and showed it to a friend and she said, ‘You know what, I just think it’s terrible… You’re really funny, why don’t you do that?’” (0:40:24)

Shortly after, he was introduced to Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) and Scott became passionately involved in the Los Angeles comedy scene. In the fourth season of Mr. Show, Odenkirk invited Scott to be a writer/performer. He remained on the crew until the show’s end in 1998.

Mr. Show bred an intensely devout fan base, and is remembered as one of the greatest cult comedy successes on television. Alison counts herself as a part of that fan base, so when she heard the speculations of a Mr. Show reunion in the works, she asked Scott eagerly if this were true.

“I can’t give any details about it, and I can’t say what it is… But obviously we got together and we’re putting together something… I think very soon something will be announced.” (0:55:00)

Vague, but…for Mr. Show lovers everywhere, yay!

In the meantime, Scott is busy with his many other creative endeavors, including the management of his popular podcasting network, Earwolf, which he built from the ground up back in 2010. Three years after it’s inception, the flagship podcast of the Earwolf network, Aukerman’s own Comedy Bang! Bang! was spun off as a TV show.

Comedy Bang! Bang! airs on the IFC channel Friday nights. Upcoming guests include Dax Shepard, Zach Galifianakis, Mark Duplass, Kid Cudi, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Earwolf is also home to Who Charted? (Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack), Professor Blastoff (Tig Notaro, Kyle Dunnigan, and David Huntsberger), U Talkin’ U2 To Me? (Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott and Scott Aukerman) and a slew of other successful comedy podcasts. Get to know them all at www.earwolf.com.
