Feb. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- MONTCLAIR/CALDWELL, NJ (February 15, 2015) The LDS Family History Center of Caldwell and “Sankofa” (The Montclair African American Genealogy Meetup Group) are pleased to announce a special session of family history research dedicated to addressing challenges facing black family history. Held at the Family History Center located in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 209 Mountain Avenue in North Caldwell on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, this free session will introduce attendees to FamilySearch.org, one of the most powerful online research tools, provide access to some of the world's largest genealogical libraries, and teach people how to navigate around some common genealogical dead-ends.

“The purpose of this meetup is to bring together a diverse group of people who love family history but who may not have had the time nor the encouragement to explore it,” explained Frances Moore of Sankofa. “Sankofa was founded specifically to support others through family research, workshops, guest speakers, and field trips. We are especially excited about this upcoming event in Caldwell.”

“I've been working with Sankofa for over two years now, and I'm so eager to be presenting to the entire group,” explained Diana Little, Director of the Family History Center in Caldwell. SEATING FOR THIS EVENT IS LIMITED. FOR RESERVATIONS, CALL DIANA LITTLE @ 973.669.2727.
