Smart Water Systems 2015
LONDON - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- SMi’s 4th annual Smart Water Systems conference will bring together utility companies, regulatory representatives, consultants, investors, engineers and vendors. It will strengthen knowledge of smart water meter data handling issues as well as looking at the practicalities of interactive billing. Understanding the customers’ behaviour, viewpoint and experience will be a major focus as will hearing from a selection of international water utility companies currently implementing smart meters, regulatory guidance from OFWAT, plus over 3 hours of networking.

Highlights include 2 exclusive keynote addresses from smart water metering pioneers, Thames Water. Attendees will hear Metering Technology Manager, Martin Hall present on lessons learnt from the smart meter roll out and Water Efficiency Manager, Andrew Tucker, speak on customer engagement.

Andrew Tucker, who will be demonstrating how vital engagement and education is to smart metering success said:

"The SMi events always bring a good range of real programmes and real technology. Plus, it’s always important to see what’s happening abroad. I always look forward to good Q&A. I’m hoping to see and hear some intelligent and common sense solutions to interesting opportunities, but most importantly, I want to see and hear about things that benefit the consumer."

He underlined bills, leakage and flooding as the biggest concerns raised by all water company customers:

“Smart systems will play an ever growing role in these agendas in the future. Our role is to ensure we fully utilise the opportunity.”

On what he saw as the main challenges within smart water metering, he commented:

"IT and managing expectations - we all want smart IT perfection. The other is to fully understand and focus on the amount and quality of engagement and education that is delivered with smarts. Smart IT is only successful if our audience understands it and utilises it. Let’s help them understand their water use first, then aim to intelligently work with them to improve their efficiency."
