Doolin Writers' Weekend festival programme announced

One of Ireland's fastest growing annual literary festivals has announced its final line-up of participants.

DOOLIN, Ireland - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- One of Ireland's fastest growing annual literary festivals has announced its final line-up of participants.

The Doolin Writers' Weekend in Doolin, County Clare, takes place from March 27 to 29th.

Organised by Hotel Doolin, the third annual festival features workshops and readings by some of Ireland’s leading writers, including Booker Prize nominee Donal Ryan, playwright, screenwriter and director Peter Sheridan, poet Dave Lordan, and award-winning novelist and short-story writer, Christine Dwyer Hickey.

Other contributors include singer John Spillane, Hennessy Award winning writer Madeleine D’Arcy, author Catherine Dunne, novelist Marion Reynolds, and Anthony Glavin.

"We look forward to welcoming some of Ireland’s top writers back to Doolin next month, explained event organiser and Doolin Hotel General Manager, Donal Minihane.

"We’ll have readings from Donal Ryan, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Dave Lordan, workshops from Catherine Dunne, Madeleine D’Arcy, Anthony Glavin, as well as singer songwriter John Spillane, theatre with Peter Sheridan, a workshop with publishing whirlwinds Tramp Press and a plethora of local trad musicians, our own Dooliner Beer and some of North Clare's finest food to keep the whole thing moving," he added.

The Weekend also features the third annual Doolin Poetry & Short Story Competition, which Hotel Doolin is hosting in association with Tramp Press and Salmon Poetry, has announced details of the competition which for the first time includes a poetry contest having previously focused solely on short stories.

The prize fund for First Place in each both competitions is €1000, while the winners will also receive a publishing consultation with Tramp Press (short story) and Salmon Poetry (poetry).

The Poetry Competition, the closing date for which is Monday 2 March, will be judged by poet Jessie Lendennie, who is the founder and Managing Editor of Salmon Poetry.  Novelist and short story writer Éilís Ní Dhuibhne is this year's Short Story judge.

2:30pm-5:30pm - Cliffs of Moher walk from Doolin with local farmer Pat Sweeney; Poetry recital at the Cliffs
3pm - 5.30pm - The Writers’ Tent: Readings and music with Eoin O’Neill and very special guests Christine Dwyer Hickey, Dave Lordan, Eleanor Hooker, Graham Allen, Éilís Ní Dhuibhne and more.
8pm - 9:30pm - Theatre Club: An Evening with Peter Sheridan
10pm - Late - Trad Session
