A New Direct Primary Care practice comes to Charleston, SC

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Feb. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Charleston, South Carolina, February 2015 - -  Dr. Stania DeJesus is pleased to announce the opening of the Family Wellness Center of Charleston, located at 9217 University Blvd Suite C1B North Charleston, SC 29406.

The Family Wellness Center of Charleston (FWCC) mission is to provide integrative, personalized medical care at an affordable cost.

“I entered medicine to help people by focusing on the whole patient, not the requirements of an insurance provider,” said DeJesus. “It’s time physicians begin to work directly for our patients again, and not allow our treatment to be guided by the regulations of an insurance company.”

“In my previous practice, a traditional insurance model in family practice, I routinely saw 30 patients or more per day, this allotted on average 8-10 minutes per patient. Unfortunately in this model, the insurance company sets the tone for how many patients need to be seen to generate revenue.”

“My FWCC practice provides complete access to primary care services. It eliminates the hassles created by insurance companies and gets back to the heart of medicine, the all-important relationship between a patient and their physician, “ said DeJesus.

“By using an integrative medicine approach, I can truly delve into the reasons for patient symptoms taking into account the mind, body and spirit and the relationship between the three.”

Stania A DeJesus is a board certified family physician. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she has since chosen to make Charleston, SC, her home. An innate interest in science led to the study of Biochemistry at Syracuse University where she obtained her Bachelors of Science.  Her ultimate goal is to apply science to the art of healing medicine, and she matriculated at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine where she would spend the next four years studying medicine and learning how to care for the person as a whole.

She honed her craft of Family Medicine at the Family Medicine program of Trident Health System & Medical University of South Carolina.  After her residency completion, she worked in a rural family practice located in Walterboro, SC.   She is currently pursuing further education in integrative medicine, which will allow her to incorporate all aspects of an individual (mind, body, spirit) in their care and treat the true cause of their condition.

DeJesus’ personal mission is to help her patients, and the community, as a whole, become healthier and achieve optimal wellness. She has lived by the mandate “to whom much is given, much is required” her entire life and continues to build upon this statement.  Dejesus went on a weeklong mission trip with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a deserving family in Honduras; is involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization inCharleston; Louie’s Kids, a non-profit organization focused on the eradication of childhood obesity; and  the Trident Literacy Association.
