Lawsuit Settlement Funding Firm Reports Shocking Cases of Police Brutality and Misconduct

Case Funding Firm says New York police brutality and misconduct cases have been popping up left and right, involving not only misconduct but allegations of sexual assault.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Feb. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Legal-Bay LLC, The Lawsuit Settlement Funding Company, reports an overwhelming number of recent cases of police brutality and misconduct involving the NYPD. Recently, Kevin Dennis-Palmer settled his lawsuit against the city for $75,000 after the cops put him in a chokehold more than a year prior to Eric Garner’s death. Ironically, according to The NY Daily News, Dennis-Palmer said the same words, “I can’t breathe,” as Eric Garner did, only Kevin Dennis-Palmer was fortunate enough to survive the chokehold incident. He has been awarded $75K, although the city and the NYPD neglected to acknowledge wrongdoing in the case. Earlier this month, according to The NY Daily News, the NYPD’s inspector general “issued a stinging report commissioned in the wake of Garner’s death that found in 10 recent cases involving chokeholds, cops received little or no discipline from higher-ups.”

In another incident, The NY Daily News reported a case stating that NYPD Officer Lukasz Skorzewski and Lieutenant Adam Lamboy were involved in an alleged rape victim sex scandal. The 24-year-old female accuser involved reported a rape in 2013, and in July of that same year, members of the Manhattan Special Victims Division flew to Seattle to interview her. The accuser claims that Skorzewski “eventually kissed her and tried to rip her clothes off in a hotel room” after a day of drinking with him and Lt. Lamboy. In April of 2014, she finally sent a letter to the NYPD to tell them the story, which the Internal Affairs Bureau wrote back in December to say “her claims had been ‘substantiated’.” Lamboy was transferred from the special victims unit, and Skorzewski has been “stripped of his shield and gun.”

In other shocking news, also according to The NY Daily News, the Brooklyn district attorney will be investigating allegations that NYPD officers have been “planting guns on innocent people” after DA Kenneth Thompson dropped a weapons case that “raised questions about officers’ conduct.” The case involves charges against Jeffrey Herring, in which he was accused of having a gun outside of his apartment in June of 2013. However, the charges were dismissed when prosecutors were last asked to finally bring forward the informant and they could not produce him. The fact that the supposed informant was not brought forward rose suspicions that he was either “unreliable” or “nonexistent.”

Due to the appalling nature of these crimes and the growing public awareness on these cases, Legal-Bay stands ready to assist those who have been faced with police brutality, police misconduct, sexual harassment and/or assault, and/or wrongful imprisonment, as these cases are unfortunately far too common.

Chris Janish, CEO of Legal-Bay, commented on the recent cases involving NYPD officers, “It has become apparent by the recent demonstrations in New York, Missouri, and Washington D.C. as well as the comments by New York’s Governor, Andrew Cuomo, that the public has lost confidence in our judicial system. The recent large lawsuits being filed in New York City also indicate the validity of many of these allegations, and as more potential victims come forward, we continue to assist them with pre-settlement funding as their cases drag through the courts.”
