Derek Green Announces Candidacy For City Council At-Large

PHILADELPHIA - Feb. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA (February 12, 2015) – On Tuesday, February 17, 2015,  Derek Green, Esquire, will make his formal announcement for City Council At-Large at the Center in the Park in Germantown at 7pm.

As the former Special Counsel to Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco, Deputy City Solicitor, and Assistant District Attorney, Green has worked throughout Philadelphia to address the issues that confront our City.  “I am running for City Council because I have the experience to get things done with a vision to make things better. In areas like education, poverty, jobs, public safety, and quality of life issues, I believe that my leadership can improve our City,” states the candidate.

Throughout his career, Green has combined experienced leadership and a commitment to people to make Philadelphia a better place to live. In addition to his public service career, he has been a small business owner and Assistant Branch Manager in North Philadelphia with Meridian Bank and a faculty coach for the Center for Progressive Leadership. As a community leader, Green is the former President of East Mt. Airy Neighbors and for Center in the Park. He also is a board member of several organizations including Mt. Airy USA CDC and the Green Tree School & Services. For his ongoing community efforts and work, Green has been recognized by various organizations and businesses throughout Philadelphia. He was selected as “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by the Pennsylvania Law Weekly News, an Outstanding Community Leader by Cheyney University, a Distinguished Leader by the Community College of Philadelphia, and as one of the region’s key 101 connectors and leaders by Leadership Philadelphia. Green has also been a leader in the Autism community by raising money and awareness to help children like his son Julian. Instead of resting on his achievements, Green has decided to run for City Council to make Philadelphia a better place for all citizens who make up this diverse city.

Tuesday’s announcement will include special guest speakers from the community, elected officials, and dignitaries.
