Give To Families Less Fortunate

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - Feb. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Orange County, CA –  This week the YMCA of Orange County is highlighting Youth Development as part of its Annual Campaign to fund scholarships for kids and families in Orange County. Last year, charitable gifts from donors made it possible for the YMCA of Orange County to serve over 60,000 people with over 1 million dollars in contributions.

“I recently separated from my son’s father so I decided to transfer from my job and start fresh. I’m a single mother of 3, so I felt so blessed when YMCA Director Melissa told me that I qualify for financial assistance. I’m so thankful for Melissa and the YMCA staff that have made this chapter in our lives possible and worry free. Without the YMCA I would have literally had to quit my job to be able to take care of my kids and just lived off child support. On behalf of my family and myself I want to say thank you so much for everything the YMCA does for us and every other family. My children and I will be paying it forward to help other families like us,” says a scholarship secipient at the Eader YMCA in Huntington Beach.

This year, the YMCA of Orange County hopes to raise $634,000. All funds raised will directly support scholarships and financial aid for our neighbors in need.

In addition to fundraising for childcare scholarships, funds raised during Annual Campaign also benefit programs like Inclusion, which helps kids with disabilities; and helps families pay to send their kids to sleepaway camps like Camp Oakes, where they build memories that will last a lifetime.
