LONDON - Feb. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Browne Jacobson’s intellectual property practice has been named as one of the leading in the country in World Trademark Review's (WTR) 1000 guide to trademark practices and practitioners.

The firm, which has five UK offices and recently re-located its London operations to 6 Bevis Marks, is ranked alongside DLA Piper UK, Pinsent Masons, Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co and Lewis Silken, amongst others.

The WTR 1000 identifies the world's leading trademark legal services providers and practitioners and independently ranks firms across 70 jurisdictions based on interviews with lawyers, attorneys and clients involved with trademarks as well as looking at the depth of experience, level of work and market presence of each firm.

According to WTR 1000 guide Browne Jacobson ‘has gathered a host of illustrious multinationals under its wing, won over by its City-quality service at regional prices; meanwhile Pangea, its established international network of referral firms, gives it a persuasive presence on the global stage. Their advice is always clear and commercial, and the team’s in-house and industry experience is readily apparent.’

The 2015 edition has also ranked intellectual specialist and head of the firm’s commercial & technology group Declan Cushley and intellectual property partner Peter Ellis as leading individuals.

Declan Cushley said:

“We are delighted with this year’s ranking. Over the last ten years we have worked hard to establish a truly national IP practice. To be standing head and shoulders alongside some of the world’s leading trademark advisers is a testament to the depth of expertise in the team, quality of our IP work and above all our ability to attract and act for some of the world’s leading brands in what remains a highly competitive marketplace.”

Declan, who is responsible for the development of the firm’s international network and client base, is relationship partner for a number of the firm’s key clients, including Mace, Bestseller and Camelot. According to the latest edition of WTR 1000 clients value his ‘insight and advice on strategic issues’ which has recently included advising Lloyds Banking Group on its rebranding of the Lloyds Bank brand and advising a leading international manufacturer and retailer of fantasy games on global IP strategy.

Peter, who has been a partner at the firm’s Nottingham office for over thirty years, has a wealth of expertise in handling contentious intellectual property matters involving trademarks, patent, copyright, designs and comparative advertising. He has acted in a number of reported cases that have significantly developed the law of IP over the last decade.

Browne Jacobson’s intellectual property practice spans offices in London, Nottingham and Birmingham and consists of seven partners, 12 associates and a number of paralegals and trainees. Its clients include Bestseller, Camelot, Goodyear Dunlop, Lloyds Banking Group, London Taxi Company, Mace, National Trust, PZ Cussons (St Tropez, Charles Worthington) and Roger Bullivant.
