For over 25 years the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center, a Berkeley based non-profit organization, has helped homeless women to move from the streets and into stable housing and provides and array of services such as case management, crisis support and transitional housing. “Our programs have always been about empowering women, so naturally, we saw the documentary as a great fit for us” says Executive Director, Jennifer Dow-Rowell. The film, which chronicles the cross country journey of five female film makers who interviewed 17 inspirational women across the country about their lives and their careers and seeks to create a space for new role models and dialogue about what it means to be a woman and a leader in a profession. From architect, to scientist, to a ballerina and a brew master, the women interviewed challenge sterotypes around what women can and should be. Discussion and Q&A will follow the screening.
