Follow on Google News | Fort Myers Flying Club helps WWII veterans fly to Washington D.CDonation enables Honor Flight to help more veterans visit memorials built to honor them
By: Fort Myers Flying Club More than 16 million served in WWII. At this time it is calculated there are approximately 855,000 still living. Two hundred thousand died in 2014 and we are losing this group at a rate of approximately 500 per day. Of the 855,000 WW II Veterans, Florida has the second-largest population at 79,925, surpassed only by California at 85,435. Our heroes, the veterans, are not asking for recognition. It is the position of Honor Flight Southwest Florida that they deserve it. Fort Myers Flying Club is pleased to support a trip for those men and women to see their memorial at no cost—a small token we can give back to those that gave so much.
