PALESTINE, Ill. - Feb. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- During the month of February the artwork of three local artists Richard Williams, Michael Ries, and Karla Ries will be on display at The Palestine Art Gallery in Palestine, IL. Collectively these three have a wide and varied history of art creation and in this show they each display large and small works featuring their own particular favorite mediums.

Richard’s medium of choice is watercolor which he deftly uses to create light filled scenes of beauty such as in his depiction of Merom Bluff.

Michael’s piece Chicago Water Taxi, is a good example of how he wields the simplest of mediums, the graphite pencil, to draw the viewer’s eye to discover shape and shadow without the use of color.

Karla’s work shifts between oil and acrylic, sometimes pared down to the simplest values and form while other times crafting finite detail as in her piece Sun Block.

While each artist’s styles, mediums, and subjects are varied, the three artists have a similar passion for art and hope that you enjoy their work. In all there are 23 works on display in this family exhibit throughout the month of February.

The show is open to the public weekdays 11:00am to 2:00pm and it is located in the North Gallery of the Palestine Art Center at 110 S Main Street in Palestine, IL.
