YORK, U.K. - Feb. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Trustmarque Solutions Limited (“Trustmarque”), announced today that it worked with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) to select Allscripts Sunrise™ electronic patient record platform across all WWL sites; to improve quality and standardise patient care by delivering real-time information to clinicians as they are treating patients. Allscripts can also improve the Trust’s operational and financial efficiency by collating and presenting data that can improve information exchange, clinical resource management and compliance. WWL provides acute hospital services for a local population of more than 318,000 in the Wigan Borough and surrounding area; it won ‘Provider Trust of the Year’ at the annual Health Service Journal Awards in November 2014.

Stephen Dobson, Associate Director of Information Management and Technology for WWL commented, “We are committed to increasing the technology capability for nurses and doctors throughout our hospitals, improving quality and freeing time to care. By giving our clinicians the information they need at their fingertips, we estimate that through Allscripts we will save a great deal of time and costs, and generate huge increases in productivity.  With the data that the Allscripts Sunrise platform can deliver, we will be able to advance the patient experience and increase the rate at which we can improve healthcare. We are pleased to be working with Trustmarque and the heritage and expertise in the NHS they bring.  They really showed they understood our needs and vision.”

WWL will use Allscripts Sunrise Acute Care, an integrated health information solution that gives clinicians a single view of a patient at any point in the patient pathway. Currently, doctors and nurses use a number of disparate patient information solutions that do not ‘follow’ a patient and are not accessible on mobile devices. By delivering electronic data direct to clinicians, time spent searching for and creating paper documents can be saved and duplication of data can be decreased. The Allscripts Sunrise platform can further collect and collate real-time data as patients are being treated. This real-time data can be used to raise an ‘early warning score’ within minutes; supporting early identification of issues such as Sepsis, ultimately reducing the length of hospital stays and saving lives.

The Trust will also be able to support future strategic requirements by analysing data collated through the Allscripts Sunrise platform across its entire estate; giving WWL actionable intelligence on financial and operational performance. Predicted financial benefits include a saving of £1m simply by going paperless. Operationally WWL will be able to analyse a range of data that will help it, for example, ensure that patient flow and hospital portering are more efficient. This will ensure the Trust remains competitive and is able to meet its targets, for example on waiting lists and length of hospital stay. In conjunction with Allscripts, WWL will be using electronic document management software from Hyland, in a deployment which is also being managed by Trustmarque. Hyland will be used to store paper-based records that can’t be captured elsewhere, such as patient requests for records and from diagnostic tools which generate paper outputs.

Mark Garrity, Head of Public Sector for Trustmarque said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust to work in partnership on the delivery of such a vital and exciting technology adoption programme that will further enable new operational efficiencies within the NHS. Throughout our 25-year relationship with the public sector, we remain committed to supporting core NHS initiatives across the UK towards the delivery of excellence in care and operational performance. The award of this programme is further testament to Trustmarque’s commitment to remain at the forefront of supporting the NHS through technology innovation.”
