Avi Liberman’s quirky style has made him a favorite in comedy clubs  from Los Angeles, Las Vegas to New York. Born in Israel, raised in Texas, having gone to college in New York and now living in Los Angeles, his style is a winning combination of life experiences and topical issues told through a varied blend of characters and voices with worldwide expertise. Avi has performed stand-up comedy on CBS’s “Late Late Show” with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and “Make Me Laugh” as well as NBC’s “Friday Night!” Avi can be seen regularly on E! As one of their frequent comedic guests on their popular countdown series. He has also guest starred on “Movies At Our House” as well as having shot a pilot titled “Through The Keyhole,” both of AMC.

Future Professional, and cancer survivor, Rica Mendes, has known Avi for years, and is putting this event together as a special project before she graduates in March. “All year, I've wanted to do something spectacular with the school for the cancer community. This is a cause I feel incredibly connected to, and I'm blessed to be part of a program that recognizes that cancer fighters, survivors and our families need support, education, and to join in the prevention efforts that Cancer Schmancer advocates. As soon as Avi said that he was available, I jumped at the chance to run this event.”

Fran Drescher, a cancer survivor and also a hairdresser, established Cancer Schmancer and has partnered with Paul Mitchell to create fundraising and educational events. Cancer Schmancer is dedicated to saving lives through prevention & early detection of cancer. Did you know when cancer is found early, 90% SURVIVE? Everyone, regardless of age, race or socioeconomic background deserves to have the opportunity of survival.

At Paul Mitchell the School Danbury, we believe that education is an adventure and the learning experience needs to be fun. Our instructors—we call them “learning leaders”—are trained to draw out the artist in every student and prepare them to compete in the real world. Through our annual “FUNraising” campaign, we’ve raised and donated thousands of dollars in support of many charitable causes. We’ve built homes with Habitat for Humanity, fed thousands of African orphans, and supported the victims of AIDS, breast cancer, homelessness, abuse, and hundreds of other causes.

Established 30 years ago, the Paul Mitchell network is nearly 100,000 salons strong and in 81 countries worldwide; every professional hairdresser knows the Paul Mitchell name.
