WHO: Grace Community, the Flagler Fairgrounds along with nonprofit Farm Share WHAT: Free Food Distribution WHEN: Friday, February 6, 2015 from 1PM – 4PM WHERE: Flagler Fairgrounds located at 150 Sawgrass Road, FLAGLER COUNTY Media Contact Brian Phelan 954-895- Farm Share works with Florida farmers to prevent waste, and get truly healthy food including fruit, milk, and juices into the hands of those that need it most. Last year this totaled over 26,480,635 pounds of food to hungry families, children, the elderly, disabled, and veterans. Volunteers, community collaborations such as this event, facilitate distributions and through community organizations including churches, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and rural community centers that far too often go unserved. As a 501c3 charity, established in 1991 Farm Share is one of the most established nonprofits in this area of work. As a charity the organization creates win-win-win solutions which provide tax credits to donating Florida farmers, free distribution to facilitators, and direct assistance to those in need, while increasing the state’s food production efficiency. For those interested in receiving free fresh food with dignity, Farm Share’s John Delgado urges individuals and their families to simply “show up.” Those interested in helping facilitate this highly effective, and much needed program are encouraged by Mr. Delgado to “come out and meet us, and see the work we are doing,” and can text ‘EAT’ to 80-888 to donate $10 which will provide 110 pounds of food to a community in need.
