Pursley Friese Torgrimson Adds Zoning/Land Use Practice

Dillard, Sellers, Arnold and Duarte Join the Commercial Real Estate Law Firm; Service Expansion Follows $116M in Transactions and Settlements in 2014

ATLANTA - Feb. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Pursley Friese Torgrimson (PFT), the Atlanta-based law firm that helps commercial real estate and business clients resolve challenges involving condemnation/eminent domain, transportation and leasing/acquisitions/dispositions, today announced that the firm has expanded to offer zoning and land use legal services. The new zoning and land use practice positions the firm as a single legal source for navigating all real property matters including condemnation/eminent domain, real estate litigation, transportation, leasing/acquisitions/dispositions and now zoning and land use for both commercial and residential clients. As part of the firm’s expansion, PFT welcomes an experienced zoning and land use legal team including attorneys Doug Dillard, Julie Sellers, Jill Arnold and paralegal Dotty Duarte.

“The challenges our clients face in commercial real estate often involve zoning-related issues,” notes Christian Torgrimson, founding and managing partner of Pursley Friese Torgrimson. “Our new zoning and land use practice leverages the proven track record of Doug, Julie, Jill and Dotty that spans every zoning level – local government administrative process, public hearings and superior court proceedings – to successfully obtain variances, permits and zoning changes for clients.”

The zoning and land use legal team brings a combined 50 years of experience representing developers, builders, property owners and businesses in zoning and land use matters for commercial, multi-family, residential subdivision and single-family property. Notably, they have litigated and won many of the landmark zoning cases decided by the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. The team has helped zoning decisions that allowed the development of Phipps Plaza, Cox Communications, Stone Crest Mall, Atlantic Station, Monarch Plaza Buckhead, Tower Place; as well as Prospect Point which paved the way for today’s Avalon development in Alpharetta. Doug is a past chair of the Council for Quality Growth and the team is closely involved in the real estate development community. He and Jill are among the co-authors of Zoning and Land Use in Georgia, the sole reference book for zoning and land use laws in Georgia. Julie leverages 15 years of real estate litigation experience to effectively work with local governments advocating her clients' zoning and land use interests.

PFT’s practice expansion follows achievements of nearly $100M in leasing, acquisition and disposition transactions and $16M in settlements and judgments for property owners and businesses in 2014. “Our growth and success is a reflection of the support and referrals we receive from our business clients,” says Torgrimson. “Our goal is to keep leveraging strong synergies across all of our practice areas to help businesses and property owners effectively navigate real property issues.”
