Follow on Google News | Uban Creek Books Releases First Three Sections of John Briggs’ Short Story CollectionBy: Uban Creek Books The initial cost for Lost in the Timbre: A Babe in the Woods is 99 cents, though it is free through Kindle Unlimited. “The title comes from a dream I had,” says Mr. Briggs. “In the dream, I ran into a former girlfriend’s sister in a bookstore. She held up a copy of my book with the title Lost in the Timbre. She and I had once discussed how good writing has a certain rhythm to it; one you can almost dance to. I think that’s why she appeared holding the book.” Lost in the Timbre: A Babe in the Woods features stories of moral ambiguity and a sense of empty yearning. Among the stories are Sideshow about two mysterious carnival barkers selling Good and Evil on the Midway, and The Unknown Soldier, in which two teenagers debate the nature of patriotism. This book is the first of three smaller collections to be released from the four-part Lost in the Timbre collection. The other two are: Lost in the Timbre: Fables, Parables & Flash Fiction, containing sixteen short stories of less than 500 words, each a contemporary tale in the manner of Aesop’s Fables and Sufi mysticism. (Release date: February 10, 2015) Lost in the Timbre: Old, Dead Men, featuring four short stories focused on living an incomplete or unsatisfying life, all written shortly after Mr. Briggs was in a terrible car accident. (Release date: February 17, 2015) Both additional ebooks are 99 cents and available for pre-order prior to their release dates. “I lumped the works together by theme so that the reader can have a smooth, enjoyable experience without the jumping around found in many short story collections,” The full collection, which contains several additional stories, will be released in early November in both print and ebook editions. John Briggs is a veteran writer and editor with more than twenty years experience in the publishing industry. A one-time nationally syndicated journalist, he currently works as the Executive Editor at New Author Editing.
