DELAND, Fla. - Jan. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- The Magnolia Company is holding an online fundraiser for a young teenager who needs a heart transplant. The Flat Hunter Campaign was launched to help bring attention to Hunter Crain and his plight to find and fund a new heart. Not only does Hunter need to find a heart, but the financial burden of such an expensive procedure is often times unaffordable for families. “We want to do all we can to help Hunter get his new heart,” said Matt Roth, co-owner of The Magnolia Company. The family anticipates transplant-related expenses to be $250,000, and they have raised $52,462.86 so far.

Only five days after Hunter was born in Jacksonville, Florida, he began to turn blue.  His parents rushed him to the Emergency Room.  Physicians immediately began running tests to figure out what was wrong with him.  It was determined that he had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This syndrome occurs when the left side of the heart does not develop correctly, and the only way to fix it is through surgery.  For Hunter, this meant three surgeries, the first of which lasted 10 ½ hours.

Last year Hunter was invited to attend the Tim Tebow Golf Tournament.  Hunter could not walk the distance of two holes and sought follow up care with the University of Florida Pediatric Cardiology Program at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville. After two heart catheterizations, it was found that Hunter had a severely dilated right atrium, a complication of his earlier surgeries. Hunter has had to stop going to school to protect him from potential infections that would compromise his ability to be transplanted.

“We are all praying Hunter finds a match,” said Mary Waugh, co-owner of The Magnolia Company. The "Flat Hunter” campaign runs from Feb. 1 to Feb. 16 and for every item sold on www.TheMagnoliaCompany.com, 30% of the sale goes to Hunter’s transplant fund. The code for the sale is "Hunter." The donations go to www.cotaforhunterc.com which will cover the costs of his upcoming transplant. Help spread the word by using hashtags #FlatHunter #HeartforHunter across your social media.

COTA is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization and your gift to assist with transplant-related expenses is tax deductible.  Any amount is appreciated and will help give patients like Hunter a chance to live a normal life.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.  It means the world to Hunter and his family.
