Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute Welcomes Jane Larkin to the Board of Directors

NEW YORK - Feb. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- The staff and current board of Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute (JOI) are pleased to welcome Jane Larkin to the Board of Directors. Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute is the only national independent organization dedicated to bringing Judaism to interfaith families and the unaffiliated.

"We are thrilled that someone with Jane's passion, talent, and personal experience has chosen to join our board," said executive director Rabbi Kerry Olitzky. "Her vision and leadership will help grow our organization and enable us to serve even more households throughout the US and Canada."

Jane Larkin is the author of From Generation to Generation: A Story of Intermarriage & Jewish Continuity. She writes regularly for InterfaithFamily.com and contributes to The Seesaw in The Jewish Daily Forward. Her work has appeared in The Forward, Tablet Magazine, Kveller.com, Center for Jewish Peoplehood Education blog, URJ Greene Family Camp blog, and Suite 101 to name a few.

Larkin is the former chair of the outreach committee and interfaith families group at Temple Emanu-El, Dallas, the largest Reform congregation in the Southwest, and sits on the synagogue’s board of trustees. During her tenure as vice-chair of the outreach committee, the synagogue won the 2009 Belin Outreach and Membership Award from the Union of Reform Judaism for its mentoring program for students in the process of converting to Judaism. She is active in National Council of Jewish Women Greater Dallas and Jewish National Fund, and is a founding member of the Jewish Women’s Foundation of New Jersey. Jane also frequently speaks about and teaches classes on building a Jewish home, interfaith relationships, marriage and parenting.

Before dedicating herself to writing and outreach work, Larkin spent nineteen years working in marketing, project management and financial services for a variety of businesses. She has received business leadership awards from GE Consumer and Retail Sales Finance, and been recognized for her work in marketing and public relations by Inside PR and the Public Relations Society of America (New York chapter). While working in the mortgage industry, she penned a monthly column on finance for Hotel News Now, and wrote for eHow and Trails.com.  She lives with her family in Dallas,Texas.

Ms. Larkin Joins the expanding board that oversees JOI's finances, policies and practices, strategic planning and outreach. Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute honors Jewish values by promoting a more welcoming and inclusive North American Jewish community that embraces intermarried families and unengaged Jews, and encourages their increased participation in Jewish life.
