Imminent Changes at MyVoice Publishing to massively improve Book Sales

MyVoice seeks to make authors successful and we offer a sneak preview on some new initiatives.

KUALAL LUMPUR, Malaysia - Jan. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Here at MyVoice Publishing it always troubles us when books don't sell well.  Sadly, that is the vast majority.  I read a statistic recently that there are 50,000 books published each year, of which less than a thousand sell more than a hundred copies.

We work hard to change that statistic and trial many different routes.  Today, we think we have found a new one that will really prove effective.

That is the pre-order route.  I shall explain.

First,we desperately need to address the quality of writing.  I am not talking about the sterile identical prose that can be forced out of you by the traditional teachings, but taking your own voice and making it stronger, by cutting out unnecessary words in the main, and changing poor word selection for strong word selection.

You can all do it - but it is painful.  It isn't glorious fun like the original writing, it is hard slogging through your words, polishing, cutting and shaping.

Up until now, MyVoice has merely suggested this route.  We are getting firmer and giving incentives now, and offering much more assistance.

Secondly, we need to improve the quality of book covers.  Statistics and surveys show that the cover art is the biggest single thing in influencing a sale.  This means using a professional book cover designer which incurs quite a bit of cost.  American designers start at $500...  British at £250... even Asian designers are $100+. The problem is that there are an awful lot of designers out there, all of whom claim to be a perfect match for you and your book.

MyVoice will now offer a matching service to locate and price a suitable designer for your book cover, within a pre-defined budget of your choice which we will help you select.

Finally, we have the biggest challenge in selling books.  Getting people to hear about them.  The trouble is that the market is hugely fragmented, with the role of the traditional influencers (newspaper/magazine book reviewers) massively reduced, and a huge rise in the number of micro-influencers - bloggers for example.

We are currently trialling a new method of generating buzz for books through a pre-order platform involving a multitude of incentives for ordering books.  This allows us to build a snowball effect of excitement about the book and fund marketing campaigns in the sure knowledge that it is risk-free.  Plus if there are enough pre-orders for your book, then retailers will automatically promote it for you.

Will it work?  There's only one way to find out....

Watch this space for the trial and help us make it work!
