Untangling Dementia – A Free Dementia Education Seminar

Jan. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Arden Courts Memory Care Communities of Largo & Seminole will be hosting a FREE dementia caregiver presentation featuring guest speaker, Tam Cummings, Ph.D., M.S., Gerontologist and author of “Untangling Dementia:  A Guide to Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia”.  This presentation will be hosted at the Largo Cultural Center 105 Central Park Drive, Largo, on Tuesday, February, 24, 2015.  Registration will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the presentation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Understanding Alzheimer’s and dementia as well as why those living with the disease act the way they do can help untangle the mysteries behind the disease and also help effectively manage challenging behaviors.  During this seminar, Tam Cummings will discuss:

- The differences between Alzheimer’s and other dementias
- The seven stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia
- Common  behavioral, emotional and physical changes that take place as dementia progresses
- Helpful communication and caregiving techniques for each stage of the disease
