About the Author

Cecilia Velástegui was born in Quito, Ecuador where she spent her childhood. Raised in California and France, she has traveled extensively to more than sixty countries and speaks four languages. She serves on the board of directors of several cultural and educational organizations. She was awarded first place by the International Latino Book Awards for her novels: Missing in Machu Picchu (2013), Traces of Bliss (2012), and Gathering the Indigo Maidens received the Mariposa Prize. Traces of Bliss was also selected on the National Latino Book Club by the Association of American Publishers and the Las Comadres international organization.
