Follow on Google News | FDM Group triumphs at inaugural Women in IT Awards winning 'Editor's Choice'By: FDM Group The Women in IT Awards, held last night at Grosvenor House, is a new initiative designed to celebrate successful executive level women in an industry that is notoriously dominated by men. The awards which have been created by business technology magazine, Information Age, are set to become an integral part of the ongoing campaign to encourage women to forge a career in one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting industries. The ceremony, which was attended by hundreds of the UK’s most influential IT leaders, is the culmination of the magazine’s campaign to help rectify the lack of women in IT. The award of ‘Editor’s Choice’ recognised FDM’s contribution to encouraging more women to consider a career in IT. FDM defeated strong competition for the accolade, which included Network Rail, RBS and Accenture. FDM was also highly commended in the category of ‘Advocate of the Year’. FDM is committed to diversifying its workforce and has implemented a Global Women in IT initiative that is fully integrated into its business model from university partnerships to clients’ requirements. FDM Group’s COO and Global Female Champion Sheila Flavell said, “It is an honour to be awarded Editor’s Choice and to be recognised for the work that we all do at FDM, not only to encourage women to embark on a tech career but to facilitate their success within it through peer support and mentoring. At FDM we are proud to practice what we preach with 25% female global workforce and a wealth of talent, in spite of the discouraging issue in the industry. However, there is more to be done and we look forward to leading the ongoing campaign to showcase the merits of a career in IT.” FDM CEO Rod Flavell said, “We have always championed a more gender diverse workplace. To be recognised as ‘Editor’s Choice’ is a testament to all the work FDM does to promote and support women in IT.” To find out more about FDM, please visit www.fdmgroup.com To find out more about the Women in IT Awards, please visit www.womeninitawards.com End
