More people are selling their homes amid an improving housing market

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Today, thanks to an improved housing market and favorable market conditions, many homeowners are choosing to sell their homes, as Donna Tashjian explains:

“The current market conditions are perfect for sellers. First, home prices have increased dramatically from the lows of the housing market crash. There are also more people buying homes, as the increase in prices, along with improving economic conditions, has unlocked a lot of pent-up demand. However, the number of homes for sale hasn’t quite kept pace, so supply-and-demand still favors sellers.”

Donna further explains, “There is also some pressure to act sooner rather than later. Supply is steadily increasing, balancing out supply-and-demand. It is also getting more expensive to buy a new home as prices and mortgage rates continue to rise. ”

New home construction, which fell to historic lows during the housing market crisis, continues to rise, with new home starts expected to increase by 26 percent in 2015[1] (http://#_ftn1).

As of October 2014, the average rate of a 30-year fixed rate mortgage was 4.19 percent. However, mortgage rates are expected to reach more than 5 percent by the end of the year^[2] (http://#_ftn2).
