The Auxiliary has received support from businesses and residents who have agreed to display blue ribbons in windows and on doors throughout towns and cities, big and small. To date, the organizing group has over 6,587 participants. In addition, legislators and elected officials from across the state have stepped in to show their support of law enforcement. Delegate Linda Phillips is leading the effort on behalf of the Women’s Caucus. She is encouraging other Delegates to wear blue during a special dedication that will take place at the Capitol the day of the state-wide event, February 19. All members of law enforcement who are available are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Those who have experienced a Line of Duty Incident will be honored on the floor of the House and are urged to contact Jan Miller, WV Auxiliary Director or Rodney Miller, WV Sheriff’s Association, to appropriately prepare the program. All officers and their guests should report to the Capitol, West Gallery at 10:45am. Individuals or businesses who wish to participate are encouraged to get creative with displays of law enforcement support. “Paint The Town Blue” is being held in conjunction with the parent organization’ The West Virginia Auxiliary – Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. is a registered not-for-profit in the state of West Virginia and was established to support law enforcement officers and their families.
