Snow and ice are not the only cause of slip and fall accidents. According to Pearlman, inadequate lighting is often cited. Parking lots, curbs, walkways and stairs leading into a store, holes, cracks, and uneven surfaces can be obscured due to inadequate lighting.”

Slip and fall accidents are common in the winter months due to snowy and icy ground surface conditions. As Pearlman can attest to, and as she elaborates in her article, “No one wants to have a slip and fall accident. Injuries can be serious, life changing and sometimes fatal.” She encourages readers to “Be more mindful during inclement weather. Wear appropriate shoes or boots during snowy and icy conditions. Hold onto handrails when they are available. Try to avoid hills and slopes. Wipe your feet on a mat when entering a building to dry the bottom of your shoes and prevent leaving puddles. And watch where you step; be aware of wet spots that others may have tracked in.”
