KENT, Ohio - Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Kent State University’s College of Business Administration will host Cleveland Whiskey founder and chairman Tom Lix on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Lix will speak during Professor Craig Zamary’s Speakers Series in Entrepreneurship class at 5:30 p.m.  in room 215. The lecture is open to all students and the general public. Seating is limited, first come, first serve.

Lix spent his younger years in the United States Navy where he learned bootleg distilling and was cross-trained in nuclear physics and thermodynamics. While in the Navy, he also learned seawater and freshwater distillation.

Initially a college dropout, Lix earned his Doctorate in Business at Boston University. He was President of Yankelovich Partners where he consulted for leading food, hospitality and entertainment companies. He worked with Proctor & Gamble, PepsiCo, HBO, American Airlines and Federal Express.

Lix recently was the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at Lake Erie College. He was the founder and president of Public Interactive application services provider and former president of MarketPulse.

Lix is a friend of Professor Zamary and has spoken in his class in the past. The Speakers Series in Entrepreneurship course explores entrepreneurship based upon the experiences of a broad range of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs will come to the class and share their paths in establishing a successful enterprise including some of the obstacles and missteps they make along the way.

This course allows students to understand why entrepreneurs start businesses, the challenges that they face in starting and running their businesses, how they identify opportunities, how business plans evolve and change and where entrepreneurs find sources of capital to start or expand a business.
