4th Annual BET-Conference Puts Spotlight on PBIS and Instructional Technology

PHOENIX - Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- The Behavior Education Technology Conference (BET-C) is coming to the Desert Willow Conference Center in Phoenix March 5-6, 2015. BET-C (http://bet-c.org) is focused on helping PK-12 educators improve student achievement, behavior, and school climate through a process of systemic change called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

School districts throughout the nation are finding solutions to common problems like disruptive behavior and bullying through this framework. Skilled experts put the ‘T’ in BET-C as they present the latest strategies to engage and teach using instructional technology.

“BET-C has matured into a national conference celebrating its fourth year. This year, we will host over 350 educators who are interested in improving their school environments and learning to apply the academic strategies and technology integration that required by today’s students,” says Conference Director Karen Gifford.

The BET-C 2015 keynote address, "How to Use Systematic Screening Data to Support Students within Comprehensive, Integrated, Three-tiered Models of Prevention," will be delivered by Dr. Kathleen Lynne Lane of the University of Kansas.

BET-C’s agenda includes topics such as blended learning, implementing and sustaining PBIS, social skills instruction, teaching K12 students to develop coding skills, student mental health, teacher evaluation through technology, developing self-management skills to help students with autism, making the most of the technology schools have on hand, and a film festival featuring teacher and student produced video about PBIS at their schools.

BET-C attendee Marci Morrison sums up the BET-C experience, “I hit the jackpot.  Every session I went to was very valuable.  I am usually very critical after 26 years in the profession, but this was superb."

Pre-conference workshops featuring blended learning strategies for teachers and administrators, measuring PBIS fidelity and outcomes, vocabulary instruction through technology, and sex trafficking prevention are take place on March 5, and the full day conference is March 6. Sponsors and exhibitors including KOI Education, Odysseyware, the Arizona Department of Education, and ASU Online present this unique event for teachers, administrators, and other school staff.

"Odysseyware is proud to sponsor impactful industry conferences like BET-C," said Beth Te Grotenhuis, the president of Odysseyware, a leading provider of online, multimedia-enriched K-12 curriculum. "We fully support BET-C's commitment to improving student achievement through EdTech and look forward to an engaging, exciting conference in Phoenix."
