Complimentary Laundry Service Returns for Bradenton Residents

Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- BRADENTON, Fla. – Current of Tampa Bay’s Laundry Project is returning to Manatee County for its second community event providing free laundry services to residents this Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Supermatt Laundromats Laundry located at 1909 Tamiami Trail.

“We are really looking forward to being back in Bradenton and continuing our support of these residents through the Laundry Project,” said President of Current of Tampa Bay, Jason Sowell. “Many people don’t realize how difficult it can be for some to be able to wash their clothes and through this initiative, we are able to restore a little hope and confidence in those who need assistance.”

According to USA.com, 17.12 percent of Bradenton’s residents are living in poverty. The Laundry Project partners with local laundry facilities and provides the detergent, softener and funds necessary to wash the linens and clothes of these lower-income residents. To date the Laundry Project has assisted more than 5,000 families and has washed nearly 48,000 loads of laundry. Sowell strives to increase these numbers during the Bradenton event on Saturday.

As part of the church’s mission weekend, the student ministry of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton is sponsoring this weekend’s event by fully funding the projects and staffing the volunteers. Local community members can also get involved by making donations of much-needed supplies including detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener and laundry baskets.
