New online service plans to shake-up Cyprus property market

PAPHOS, Cyprus - Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Purple Homes is a new online property portal promising to shake up the Cyprus real estate market with the launch of one of the first online property portals on the Island to make buying, renting and letting simple, quick and cost effective.

Online property portals are now the most searched home search method with 95% of people now starting their search online. We have seen an increase in the amount of property portals in Cyprus such as Anglo Info now having a dedicated property section, then we have Bazaraki with over 5000 real estate listings on the local classified site.

The way that people now search for their home has changed dramatically in the last decade. Whereas years ago the estate agent would be the first point of call, now the majority of potential buyers don’t even need to leave home to begin their search.

Before the internet, options for reaching tenants were limited to instructing an agent, the local newspaper and adverts in shop windows. Now there are numerous websites with some major traffic, sites such as Bazaraki and Anglo Info where you can advertise. Purple Homes, as an online letting agent with an office based in Paphos can advertise their properties not only on their own website but feed the listings to over 150 local and international portals.

Purple Homes marketing and development team recently carried out some local research and found both Landlords and Tenants feel that there are a lot of unprofessional and rogue agents on the Island. Landlords said Tenants are not referenced fully by the agents with many tenants saying they were not even consulted about their primary income source before having the keys handed over to them.

Purple Homes also found an extremely small minority of agents on the Island were advertising properties for Rent on the major property portals in Cyprus and we would advise Landlords and Sellers to always ask where the agent will advertise the property for rent or sale.
