Follow on Google News | “Camp Connections” event expands to two locations in 2015: Tradewinds Park and Flamingo GardensFamily events feature 50+ camps, games, entertainment and food for children
By: Broward Family Life Camp directors from all over the tri-county area and beyond will be on site to share information about their programs and to answer questions. This one-of-a-kind event connects parents and future campers with the resources they need to make informed decisions about their spring and summer plans. The expo will showcase a wide variety of options from sports, art and drama to environmental, academic and special needs camps. “Every parent wants their child to have a summer to remember. After a very successful event for both our camps and our 1800+ attendees at Flamingo Gardens, we are excited to be bringing Camp Connections to a second location, Tradewinds Park, which allows us to reach even more families in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties. There are so many wonderful programs available but parents may not have the time to do the research,” says Michelle Liem, Publisher Broward Family Life. "Our expo was designed to provide busy families with a one-stop shopping experience where they can visit with more than 50 camps while enjoying a fun-filled afternoon." Camp Connections Spring & Summer Fun Expo is sponsored by Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital. “It’s important that parents have enough information to make an informed decision regarding which camp is most appropriate for their children,” said Milin Espino, director of Community Relations for Memorial Healthcare System. “We are proud to sponsor this event, which will give parents the tools and resources to learn what South Florida has to offer for Spring and Summer camps.” Camp Connections is expected to attract more than 1000 attendees at each location and will feature more than 50 camps, including but not limited to YMCA of Broward County, Young at Art Museum, IMACS (Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science), Camp Live Oak, Circle F Dude Ranch and Camp Blue Ridge. "Camp Connections is a 'one-stop shop' to learn about available children's summer educational and recreational activities, and Tradewinds Park provides the perfect backdrop for this family event,” said Cyndy Baker, Public Communications Group Manager at Broward County Parks and Recreation. The picturesque park setting of Tradewinds Park and tropical paradise of Flamingo Gardens will be the perfect backdrops for an interactive family experience. "Flamingo Gardens is delighted to partner with Broward Family Life to help bring together the many camp options in one location to help parents find the perfect camp for their children. As an organization that has provided wildlife and ecological tours to children for over 30 years, we understand the value of camp experiences and applaud Broward Family Life's efforts to make that decision a little easier for the families in Broward County,” said Keith Clark, Managing Director & Director of Development for Flamingo Gardens. Attendees can preregister for Camp Connections Spring & Summer Fun Expos at BrowardFamilyLife.com. Park admission is required at Tradewinds Park ($1.50 per person, children 5 and under, free), and all preregistered attendees receive complimentary admission to Flamingo Gardens.
