26th Annual Northern California African American Male Youth Conference

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- In an effort to expand the cultural and educational horizons of young African American males, The 100 Black Men of Sacramento, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc.’s Sacramento Alumni Chapters have joined with other co-sponsors such as the Sacramento City Unified School District, Roberts Family Development Center, Target Excellence, WalMart-Natomas, the Greater Sacramento Urban League, the Sacramento Job Corps, U-CAN
(Go-To-College), and others to host the 26th Annual African American Young Male Northern California Conference.

African American Expressions greeting cards Company of Rancho Cordova is the conference’s SILVER SPONSOR. This conference is held annually for the past 25 years and is the first and largest of its kind of event in Northern California.

This year’s conference will take place Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Serna Center/Sacramento Accelerated Academy at 5735 47th Avenue in Sacramento, CA and is open to young men between the ages
of 12 and 21. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to attend and participate in parenting workshops. There is no charge for admission if pre-registered online by February 14, 2015, at
http://www.100blackmenofsacramento.org/

The conference begins with registration confirmation and a complimentary continental breakfast at 7:30 AM. The opening session is at 8:30 AM followed by three one-hour workshops from 9:00 AM to 12 PM. Lunch will also be provided without charge. Vendor opportunities are available upon request.
Door prizes will be drawn just before the conference’s 3:00 PM conclusion.

The conference brings together an array of talented speakers from the community on a broad spectrum of topics of particular value to young men and especially Black males. Topics ranging from health care (incl. HIV & AIDS) to seminars on the legal/criminal justice system, planning for college, How
to Survive Social Media, Life Decision-making Skills, Money Management, Youth and The Law Concerns and Solutions, How to Earn College Scholarships, How to prepare for the work place and interviews,
the Sacramento Job Corps value and Career support opportunities.

The keynote speakers for the conference will be Sacramento native Wm. Jahmal Miller, MHA, and Deputy Director at the California Department of Public Health Office of Health Equity and Superior Court Judge Gary E. Ransom (Ret), Sacramento’s first African American attorney in the Public
Defender’s office.
