Greater Conroe Job Fair Expected to Draw More than 500 Job Seekers to Fill Area Job Needs

CONROE, Texas - Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Job seekers from throughout the region are expected to participate January 27 in the third annual job fair to fill Greater Conroe job vacancies in a wide variety of career fields. The 42 companies and agencies participating are looking to fill middle skills positions that have been in short supply, such as welders, machinists, electricians, technicians, drivers and food service providers. Other popular jobs to fill are nurses and EMTs, as well as sales professionals and accountants. Some unique jobs being offered include dock hands, fitness trainers and golf course maintenance personnel.

Workforce Solutions will present three free workshops to teach job seekers interview, resume writing and connecting skills. Job seekers also can register for one of five $500 scholarships to attend Lone Star College – Conroe Center.

“We will have companies and job placement agencies that are hiring now at the Greater Conroe Job Fair,” said Jennifer Matthews, associate director with Greater Conroe Economic Development Council (GCEDC). “Job seekers can fill out on-line and hard-copy applications, and many jobs seekers will get on-site interviews”

Matthews said the Greater Conroe Job Fair is a collaborative effort of  GCEDC, Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber, Lone Star College/Conroe Center and Workforce Solutions. Lone Star Convention & Expo Center is the facility sponsor, HCN Conroe Courier and JobSparx Magazine are media sponsors and Conroe Machine and Labtopia are executive sponsors.
