Valley Events Returns from Company Retreat in Cancun

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Kelly, the company’s director of operations, reported that she invited team members Keisha, Brandon, Katianna, Greg, Becca, and Jamie to join her. “It was thrilling to have these immensely talented and dedicated individuals be part of this wonderful retreat,” exclaimed Kelly. “We had such a terrific time together relaxing on the beach and exploring Cancun.”

While the primary focus of the trip was on fun and relaxation, there was a considerable amount of networking involved as well, which made the excursion more constructive. “The best and the brightest leaders in the industry were there,” Kelly said. “We got to meet them and learn about their operations, as well as what they’ve done that made a difference in 2014.”

To prepare for the trip, Kelly noted that she thought about what she hoped to learn from other attendees. “I really wanted to discover how they help brands grow,” she said. “The other professionals who were there were just as curious about what works in different regions, including ours. Certainly there was a lot of downtime, but we shared a great deal with each other, too. Our team returned to the office with so many innovative ideas that we’re anxious to incorporate into our marketing strategies.”

The highlight of the retreat was the awards ceremony, which honored the top performers for their hard work and achievements. Kelly was one of the recipients, and accepted the Presidents Club Award for her accomplishments last year. She was also nominated for Comeback Manager of the Year and Program Manager of the Year. “Needless to say, I was both stunned and delighted,” she confessed. “The reality is, this award isn’t just for me – it’s for the entire Valley Events team.”

Valley Events’ Leader Discusses Networking Tips

Kelly indicated that she and her colleagues prepared carefully for the networking component of the trip. “I am a firm believer that you only get as much out of networking events as you put into them,” she explained. “For instance, I try to do some research in advance on key topics that will be discussed, and to develop key questions ahead of time.”

“Another tip is to identify what you want to gain from the experience,” she suggested. “Treat it like you would any other goal plan. Have an objective, and a plan of action. For instance, I wanted to learn about additional marketing techniques that have proven effective, and that our team could customize. I made sure I researched what other teams had accomplished, so I knew who to approach at the conference.”

As Kelly concluded, “The benefits derived from these types of events are immeasurable. You just can’t have the same conversations over the phone or by email. I’m grateful we had this opportunity. It’s going to help us ensure that 2015 is an outstanding year.”
