66th Republic Day comes alive for construction labourers of Gurgaon

Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Sensing the growing responsibility towards the community and to create awareness for others to feel the same, the real Gurgaon maker celebrated 66^th Republic Day function with enthusiasm andpatriotic fervor in a unique manner which commenced at 11.00 A.M. on January 26, 2015 at the base camp of IL&FS at sec-52.

The team involved in this event was Rise Always welfare society (RAWS), DLF Foundation, IL&FS and Homestead. Approx. 3000 clothes were distributed among the 400-500 construction labourers. Each labour also got our national flag which created a panoramic view. The initiative was started to bring smile on the faces of labourers which came across from different parts of our country and making this a memorable fest for them. Various items were collected like woollen clothes, daily essentials, footwear, blankets etc. and then gifted it to the needy at the base camp. Some labourer sung patriotic songs to rejoice this necessary day collectively.

A construction labourer from Jharkhand who was a part of this event expressed his happiness and gratitude towards the team involved in this event. “The woollen clothes and other necessary things that they have given us are priceless for us.”  Said Ramesh Munda, a constructor worker from base camp.

Lt. Gen. Rajendra Singh, CEO DLF foundation said “Workers come from 1000 kilometres just to work here and to earn for their families. Bringing lives together at the construction sites is not an easy task. Republic Day is not a festival just to celebrate but this is to bring the real happiness among everyone. Others should also join the hands for distributing happiness among them”.

Lalit Makkar,Project Head, HUDA road project, IL&FS addressed the labourers  reminding them of the supreme sacrifices made by the country’s great freedom fighters. He promised to continue this unique event every year in order to feel homely environment for labourers.

Homestead COO, Manoj Srivastava greeted the people on this auspicious occasion and said that “This small contribution helped the labourers and their family in a long way. They are the real people who made possible to make Gurgaon as a millennium city”

President RAWS,Sarvesh Kumar Tiwari greeted the people ,saying " it is an opportunity to pay respects to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom. Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”

The entire team of RAWS, Homestead, DLF Foundation and IL&FS gathered on this occasion to celebrate Republic Day with full zeal and enthusiasm.
