Rosenblatt High School at Donna Klein Jewish Academy who is producing JAM FOR THE CURE: Battle of the Bands to Battle ALS, today announced the names of the 10 competing bands scheduled for the music-filled fundraiser this Sunday, January 25, at JAZZIZ in Mizner Park. The 10 participating bands include six from Boca Raton and one each from Jupiter, Miami, Palm Beach and West Palm Beach: + Anastasia Max is a brother-sister duo from Boca. He is 15 and she is 11. + Apollo is a popular jazz band formed by students from Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach. + Jahzilla is a 5-piece reggae /classic-rock band from Jupiter. + Krush is a preteen classic rock band from Palm Beach. + Lobster Socks is a 4-piece band that emerged from the Jazz program at St. Andrews’s School in Boca Raton + Loud N Clear is a 6-piece Boca-based band with roots in both Canada and Florida that combines classic rock with indie, folk and blues. + Mason Pace Music – 13-year-old Mason and his three young friends from Boca recently shot their first music video. + Penquim is a young band from Boca with an old soul that plays R&B, blues, Jazz and classic rock. + Phinally Famous is a blues-rock band where all members are FAU students and members of the Phil Delta Theta Fraternity. + Soundglass is a 4-piece rock band from Miami that mixes classic and modern rock with pop-like melodies. Spencer also announced the addition of a fifth and final celebrity judge: Mary Walkley, vocal coach for Katherine McPhee (American Idol, Smash); Kris Bentley; Inner Circle (Florida Grammy Winner); Francesca Battestelli (5 Dove Awards, including Artist of the Year & Female Vocalist of the Year); Broadway stars Ann Reinking (Tony award), Patrick Wilson (2 Tony nominations) Ms. Walkley will join previous announced celebrity judges Paul Hoyle, a music producer, composer and vocalist who won a Latin Grammy in 2004; Dennis Lambert, the 12-time Grammy nominee and two-time nominee for the Songwriters Hall of Fame; Tommy Mitchell, the former lead singer for Blood Sweat and Tears, and Nicko McBrain, drummer of Iron Maiden. Spencer Silver, the son of Boca-based entertainer Deborah Silver and her husband Larry D. Silver, is producing JAM FOR THE CURE: Battle of the Bands to Battle ALS in honor of his beloved aunt Marjie, who has been stricken with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Profit from JAM FOR THE CURE will be donated to The ALS Association Florida Chapter.
