Jan. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Carrie Hammer, who was named in 2015 to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, will be holding her New York Fashion Week runway show for her namesake brand CARRIE HAMMER on February 12, 2015, at 10am, at the Lightbox in Manhattan.

Hammer broke records in February 2014 when her debut runway show ‘Role Models Not Runway Models’ included powerhouse women from CEOs and entrepreneurs, to the first runway model in a wheelchair at New York Fashion Week. “We were all women who have achieved significantly and made outstanding contributions to our community. I just happened to use a wheelchair,” explained Dr. Danielle Sheypuk.

Inspired by Hammer’s runway show, Karen Crespo, a quadruple amputee reached out to the designer in an email saying, “I was so thrilled and moved that a designer welcomed someone with a disability on the runway. I have a passion for fashion so I hope one day I will get to show the world “Why can't people with disabilities, people like me, be beautiful and model.”

Crespo lost all four of her limbs in a battle against bacterial meningitis, and had $100,000 prosthetic arms made. After a year of waiting, they were sent uninsured to her home and stolen off her doorstep. Upon hearing this, Hammer reached out to Hanger Inc, a world leader in prosthetics, and together they created a new set of arms for Crespo and surprised her a week before the show.

Hammer invited Crespo to walk in her September 2014 New York Fashion Week runway show, and was once again swarmed with positive outreach and press.

Carrie Hammer will continue raising the bar on standards of beauty. On February 12, 2015, the CARRIE HAMMER runway show will include Role Model, Jamie Brewer, famous actress from American Horror Story: Murder House and Coven, who happens to have Down Syndrome. A famous actress and disability activist, Brewer, hopes to raise the level of awareness of Down Syndrome and make sure that women of all abilities know that they are beautiful.

By continuing to showcase powerful and diverse women, Hammer hopes to empower women from every corner of the globe to feel beautiful in their own skin.“Where our beauty lies is in our accomplishments and our differences- it’s time to celebrate them!” - Carrie Hammer

The show is made possible by partners, Bustle.com and AppNexus.
