"BALDWIN, PORTRAIT OF A WRITER" Opens at San Diego Community Actors Theater

SAN DIEGO - Jan. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Although James Baldwin has written so much defining our culture, very little has been written about him. The fiercely courageous Black American who wrote in an elequent voice, was one of the most important writers of our lifetime.  He spoke of the pain and struggle of misunderstood, unaccepted members of our society and was a vocal advocate for equality.  Now, Finally a play explodes on the theatrical scene telling his story.  Although a secular project "BALDWIN, PORTRAIT OF A WRITER" opens with a youthful James Baldwin being groomed to become a preacher in his fathers Harlem storefront church, then gracefully moves through his fascination with reading and utilizing the written word to learn about his Negro culture.  It visits the days and years he wrote some of his most prolific works, such as "Blues for Mister Charlie", and takes us with him on his travels to Europe where he experiences life, love and stands his ground against most notable opponents on the battlefield of freedom.  "BALDWIN, PORTRAIT OF A WRITER" is a must see!
