U.S. Army Veteran Calls for End to Genocide in South Africa

By: Jinger Jarrett

SALISBURY, N.C. - Jan. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Salisbury, NC, 1/22/2015 — U.S. Army veteran Jinger Jarrett wants to bring awareness to genocide in South Africa. Jarrett got involved in the issue when she connected with SADF veterans on some of the social sites and began to study the issue. Her goal is to bring awareness to this tragedy and put an end to what the government in South Africa is allowing to happen.

"I don't care, and I have never cared about the color of the skin of those involved," Jarrett said. "Genocide is wrong. To murder people for what their ancestors did is just wrong. What's worse is that this isn't just happening in South Africa. It's happening just about everywhere."

Jarrett changed her opinions on the issue after she started connecting with veterans from South Africa, and they began sharing their stories. They talked about the farmers in South Africa and how they are being murdered in the most brutal of ways simply because they are white.

"These are the people who grow our food. All they want to do is farm their land and live in peace. Many of these people are older, and many women, children and old people have been raped, brutalized and murdered. For what? Because the African National Congress is angry? They're the ones in power," she said.

Jarrett seeks to end the apartheid blaming too. After talking to many of her South African friends, she realized that many of them opposed the system as well. Apartheid ended over 20 years ago. It is now being used as an excuse for the economic failure of South Africa.

"It was not a perfect economic system," she said. "However, it was uniquely South African because South Africa was in a unique position. South Africans were looking for a way to resolve the racial tension and bring all South Africans of every color onto the same economic level. The ultimate goal was to create economic prosperity for all South Africans. Unfortunately, the system didn't always work the way it was supposed to and many people were hurt because of it."

Jarrett in no way condones the apartheid system. She believes in economic and political determination for all. As a veteran, she believes that everyone has a right to self determination and that all lives matter, not just white or black.

"Punishing people now for the mistakes of the past is not the way to handle the situation. Creating economic disparity for those you perceive as your enemies isn't the way to economic prosperity either. All must have the same chance at success. Equality of outcome doesn't work because those without the appropriate skills are set up for failure. A good education and equal opportunity for all is the only path to success."

Jarrett hopes to start a movement, not just in South Africa but worldwide. Genocide is a problem throughout the continent of Africa as well as other countries throughout the world. Bringing awareness to the issue is only the first step.
