LONDON - Jan. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Netwise Hosting’s brand new flagship London data centre will be ready for initial occupancy “very soon”, according to the management team in charge of the build project.

This hotly anticipated data centre has been under construction for around a year, with the 11,000 sq ft high-tech facility now nearing completion. The first data hall is now finished, with final testing and commissioning underway throughout February and March. Existing customers and advanced pre-sale customers will then be able to step foot inside the new data centre for the first time, with a series of public launches to follow shortly thereafter.

Management at Netwise Hosting have confirmed that the final phase of the build project is comprised of power provisioning, as well as finalising the high-speed network and other related systems. Once these final works are complete, a rigorous commissioning and testing phase will begin ahead of populating the first racks.

Matt Seaton, Senior Manager at Netwise, gave some internal insight into the project.

“I can’t describe how excited we are to get the first of our customers online in the new facility. This has been a huge project for us, and to see it come together now is just fantastic. We have had lots of people following the build blog online; it’s been great to share the progress with the industry and have such positive feedback throughout. London has needed a new colocation facility like this for quite some time, and we are very pleased to announce that it’s here, and ready to deliver customer services.”

Managing Director, Matthew Butt, also gave comment.

“It’s funny to think back to starting this project in my loft at home with Matt [Seaton] when we were still at school, and now I can stand in the first of two data halls, each holding 96 occupiable racks. The progress we have made as an organisation is truly incredible, and I am very excited to open the doors to this new facility. It is fair to say that we have had some delays throughout the project; however we never compromised quality for speed of completion. Everything has to be perfect for our customers, and we take that responsibility very seriously.”

This is the second facility designed and built entirely by the Netwise Hosting team, the first of which, based in Sutton (Surrey), was decommissioned in March 2014 due to rapid expansion.

Management at the organisation have stated that their dedicated server estate will be the first set of systems to migrate to the London Central facility from their temporary partner site in Docklands, followed by their portfolio of colocation clients shortly thereafter.

Whilst the site will begin welcoming customers into the new site imminently, on-going supplementary works will continue into the summer, in line with the organisations commitment to continual improvements as seen at their award-winning Sutton site. This will include expansion of automated systems, final cosmetic enhancements to the facility, and other non-technical works which will dramatically raise the profile of the data centre in the competitive London market.

Matt Seaton has indicated that a new version of their website is set to follow in the summer, along with a redesign of all company marketing materials, however in the meantime a specification sheet for the new facility available on the Netwise Hosting website.
