About Jayme L. Sophir

Jayme L. Sophir is the Deputy Associate General Counsel in the NLRB’s Division of Advice, which provides guidance to the Agency’s Regional Offices regarding difficult or novel legal issues arising in the processing of unfair labor practice charges. The Division of Advice has been the office largely responsible for developing and articulating the General Counsel’s proposed broader standard for determining when entities that do not directly employ employees should nevertheless be considered “joint employers” of those employees. Ms. Sophir oversaw the drafting of the General Counsel’s brief to the NLRB on the joint employer issues in the Browning-Ferris case, as well as the application of the proposed new standard in the franchising context.
